Then you’ve come to the right place! The Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin is founding the new Helmholtz Institute for Polymers in Energy Applications Jena (HIPOLE Jena) together with the Friedrich-Schiller-Universität Jena.

As a Strategic Consultant (m/f/d) with a basic understanding of chemistry and technology/science, you will be an important part of our international team. As personal assistant to the founding director of our newly established institute HIPOLE Jena, you will support the planning and implementation of management tasks, prepare and follow up on appointments and prepare corresponding presentations in English and German. You will support the strategic orientation and further development of our research mission and take on conceptual and coordinating tasks in the scientific field of HIPOLE Jena. Your Tasks

  • supporting the founding director and the management team in the planning and implementation of strategic management tasks.
  • preparing and following up on appointments & presentations and being familiar with scientific research/work.
  • strategic support and further development of the research mission.
  • conceptualising and coordinating tasks in the five research areas.
  • coordinating external enquiries and being a contact point for external partners and collaborations in industry and politics.
  • creating presentations, texts, templates and scientific communication.

Your Qualifications

  • A scientific university degree (Diplom/Master/Magister or comparable), preferably at a university in the natural sciences (chemistry, physics, materials science, …), preferably with a doctorate
  • Professional experience as a scientist is desired – ideally in the field of polymer materials or energy storage; at universities, administration or industry
  • Extensive knowledge of the scientific system as well as networking and relationship management in the (science) policy arena
  • Ideally project management experience
  • Strong strategic and analytical thinking and very good presentation skills
  • Very good PC skills (MS Office, Internet, databases), possibly SAP
  • An independent way of working and a friendly, engaging manner with strong organisational and coordination skills
  • Enjoy working with people with an international background in a diverse and dynamic working environment
  • A high degree of independence and personal responsibility
  • Strong language skills with very good written and spoken German and English skills

The employment contract is unlimited. The salary is based on the Collective Agreement for the German Public Service (TVöD-Bund).
