Achieving climate neutrality within the next 20 years necessitates an innovation boost for the development of highly efficient, scalable, low-cost, and sustainably produced energy technologies. Polymer materials play a central role in this process.
HIPOLE deeply integrates and expands world-class expertise in polymer chemistry, materials science, high-throughput experimentation and artificial intelligence with complementary expertise in inorganic/hybrid materials, scalable devices, and advanced characterization.
You have the chance to support the newly founded institute as a technician (m/f/d) from the beginning with your ideas and expertise. Your tasks will include the characterization of novel redox-active molecules and polymers for application in organic polymer-based batteries (redox flow and thin film batteries), for which a variety of state-of-the-art equipment and unique technologies are available in our institute.
Your Tasks
- Characterization of macromolecular substances and low molar mass substances from research by, e.g., SEC, HPLC, GC, LC-MS, ESI, MALDI and AF4.
- Determination of purity, turnover, and molar masses of polymers and low molar mass substances by the above-mentioned methods from sample preparation to measurement and evaluation of results.
- Responsibility for support and maintenance of laboratory equipment and technical devices.
- Instruction of staff in the use of equipment.
- Contribution to method development for characterization.
- Contribution to the procurement and setup of equipment for characterization.
- Responsibility for general order and cleanliness in the laboratory.
- Management and procurement of consumables.
Your Profile
- Completed vocational training as a technical assistant (CTA/BTA/MTA) or a comparable professional qualification with analytical relevance.
- Knowledge of liquid and gas chromatographic methods (e.g., SEC, HPLC and GC) as well as mass spectrometry (e.g., LC-MS, ESI, MALDI)
- Good technical understanding and willingness to learn new topics
- General computer skills, including Windows and Office, and English skills, both written and spoken
You already have many years of experience in instrumental analysis incl. maintenance of analytical measuring instruments and are characterized by your ability to work in a team, reliability, willingness to learn, independence, and communication skills. You are willing to take on responsibility and show flexibility with regard to the areas of responsibility. You enjoy working with people with an international background in a diverse and dynamic work environment.

- Good work-life balance (flexible work time models: flextime, part-time)
- 30 days paid leave
- Health management, company sports programs, company pension scheme (VBL)
- Financial support for public transport (Deutschlandticket Job)
- Long-term prospects, opportunities for further development/training opportunities
- Payment according to the collective agreement for the public service (TVöD-Bund)
- And a team that looks forward to meeting you!
Fixed term contract for 24 months. The salary is based on the Collective Agreement for the German Public Service (TVöD-Bund).
