Boys’ Day 2025 at HIPOLE Jena

04.04.2025 1 min read

Yesterday, we had hosted a great event for Boys’ Day 2025 at HIPOLE Jena!
Four bright students explored the fascinating world of chemistry, conducting hands-on experiments to uncover the secrets of everyday substances.

They conducted four different experiments to catch a culprit. In the first experiment, they had to differentiate between drinks based on their pH value. They performed the pH test using a pH test strip and a pH meter. They then performed paper chromatography on a note to determine which black pen was used to write the note. Scent samples were distinguished not only by nose but also by gas chromatography. Finally, candy residues were determined using a mass spectrometer (a molecular scale). Based on the measurement results, the boys drew conclusions and caught the culprit. As an apology, the culprit prepared nitrogen ice cream for everyone.

A big thank you to our dedicated team for making this event possible and to the inquisitive students for their curiosity and engagement.

We are excited to continue inspiring young minds to explore the wonders of science!
