Yesterday, we had the pleasure of hosting Girls’ Day 2025 HIPOLE Jena!
Four talented students dove into the world of chemistry and became molecular detectives for a day.

They conducted four different experiments to catch the culprit. In the first experiment, they had to differentiate between drinks based on their pH value. They carried out the pH test using a pH test strip and a pH meter. Next, they performed paper chromatography on a piece of note paper to determine which black pen was used to write the note. Scent samples were distinguished not only by nose but also by gas chromatography. Finally, candy residues were determined using a mass spectrometer (a molecular scale). Based on the measurement results, the girls drew conclusions and caught the culprit. As an apology, the culprit made nitrogen ice cream for everyone.
A huge thank you to our dedicated team HIPOLE Jena for making this day possible and, of course, to the curious students for their enthusiasm and interest in chemistry.
We look forward to inspiring more young talents in science in the future!
