HIPOLE Jena develops polymeric materials for a sustainable future

The Helmholtz Center Berlin for Materials and Energy (HZB) and Friedrich Schiller University Jena (FSU Jena) within the framework of HIPOLE Jena are jointly pursuing an innovative and targeted approach in the field of energy storage and energy conversion. For this research mission, the recently founded Helmholtz Institute HIPOLE Jena uses polymers.

The central strategic goal of HIPOLE Jena is the accelerated, knowledge-based development of sustainable polymer materials for scalable energy technologies. HIPOLE Jena is based on three research pillars:

  • Material design & synthesis
  • Scalability, prototypes, and transfer
  • Characterization, theory & modeling, and data science.
