Great discussions and renewed optimism at Batterieforum Deutschland

12.02.2026 1 min read

The annual Batterieforum Deutschland once again brought together policymakers, industry representatives, and researchers on 20 January 2026 to discuss key developments in battery technology. Our colleague Dr. Felix Nagler represented the team with a poster presentation, highlighting the most recent findings from the CoLiSCo project.

The overall sentiment across the community was highly encouraging: the framework conditions for the battery sector are consistently improving and continue to move in the right direction, bringing renewed confidence and momentum to the industry.

Key results from the CoLiSCo project included:

  • Fully aqueous cathode processing of Lithium-Sulfur (LiS) cathodes, eliminating toxic organic solvents
  • Cathode design driving high sulfur accessibility and utilization
  • 750 mAh g⁻¹ at mass loading of 3 mg(S) cm⁻² demonstrated in pouch cells, confirming scalability
  • SAXS insights revealing sulfur migration from the Ketjen Black nanoporous network during cycling

Many thanks to the organizers and all participants for the valuable discussions and exchanges. It’s great to see strong collaboration across sectors — and even better to feel optimism returning to the battery community.
