On September 23, 2024, the HIPOLE Jena team visited Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin (HZB), for a day with impressive tours and hands-on experience exchange on cutting-edge technology.
The central topic of the visit was a presentation of the HIPOLE Jena team on the Adlershof stage by Prof. Dr. Schubert and Prof. Dr. Ivo Nischang, followed by lively discussions on the topics of administration, communication, PV research, batteries and sustainable chemistry. These discussions, which later carried over to a relaxed setting at the bar tables, gave everyone a chance to share ideas, challenges, and future visions in a truly collaborative spirit.
The visit started with an impressive tour of the world-renowned BESSY II facility. Known as a third-generation synchrotron radiation source, BESSY II produces incredibly bright X-ray light, serving as a powerful research tool for scientists globally. Whether it’s studying cutting-edge solar cells, materials for hydrogen production, quantum materials, or even ancient meteorites and archaeological finds, BESSY II has proven itself as a game-changing instrument for innovation across multiple fields. The team was captivated by its vast potential and its role in pushing the boundaries of science and technology. After a joint lunch a lab tour through HySPRINT and the PVcomB ended the visit.
