On May 21, the MDR-Zukunftstag took place under the motto “Transformation and Transfer.” As part of this event, Jacob Schneidewind (Junior research group leader) and Kristína Rabatínová (PhD) had the opportunity to present their research on the direct conversion of water into hydrogen using sunlight – one of five projects selected from Central Germany.

Jacob opened the day with an inspiring keynote titled “Catalyzing Sustainable Transformation.” Alongside exciting project presentations, the event offered numerous opportunities for exchange with representatives from science, media, and communication. Julia Rautschek (scientific officer at HIPOLE Jena) was also on-site, accompanying the event.

Two panel discussions focused on key questions:
🔹 How can research be successfully transferred into practice?
🔹 How can dialogue with society be strengthened?
🔹 What role do the media play in this process?
In this context, MDR Wissen’s diverse information offerings were also presented.
With the Zukunftstag, MDR provided an excellent platform to showcase research from the region while simultaneously creating impulses for engagement with the public.
